Barcelona's Héctor Fort Transfer Situation: Dortmund vs Real Sociedad

Barcelona’s plans for Héctor Fort are edging towards a decision, but what looked like a clean, one-way road to Borussia Dortmund has turned into a traffic jam.

For days, Dortmund sat in pole position. Talks advanced, the framework of a deal began to take shape, and inside the Bundesliga club there was growing confidence that the young full-back would be theirs. Then Real Sociedad arrived.

Dortmund still ahead, but no longer alone

According to the latest from Matteo Moretto (via FCB World), Dortmund still lead the race and remain in the strongest position to strike an agreement with Barcelona. They have done the groundwork, they know the player, and they understand the parameters of the negotiation.

But the operation is no longer a formality. Real Sociedad have stepped in late, asked for details, and started to study the conditions of a possible transfer. What was once a near straight-line path now has a serious rival club on the horizon.

Barça lay down the terms

Barcelona, for their part, have stopped dancing around the numbers. The conditions are now explicit.

The Catalan club want €20 million for 100% of Fort’s rights. A full sale, clean and simple.

There is another route. Barça are also willing to consider an offer in the €8–10 million range in exchange for 50% of the player’s rights. That structure would allow them to cash in now while keeping a significant stake in Fort’s future, a formula they have used before with young talents.

Any club that accepts one of those two formulas can move decisively for the defender. Those are the rules of engagement.

Valuation rises as interest grows

Earlier in the window, the figures around Fort were more modest. Initial information suggested Barcelona valued him at around €10 million. Moretto’s latest update sharpens that picture: the club see a higher ceiling and want the deal to reflect it, either through a €20 million full sale or a shared-rights package that protects their upside.

Dortmund, then, still have the advantage. They moved first, they pushed hardest, and they remain closest to an agreement. But Real Sociedad’s late move has complicated the landscape and, crucially, strengthened Barça’s hand in setting the price.

Now the numbers are on the table. The next step belongs to the bidders.
