Benjamin Sesko Reflects on Late Draw Against Everton Despite Scoring for Manchester United

Benjamin Sesko shared his thoughts following a frustrating late equalizer by Everton that denied Manchester United a win. Sesko’s first goal of the season appeared to have secured three points, but the hosts managed a 2-2 draw deep into stoppage time at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

The Slovenian striker, wearing number 30, came off the bench and connected perfectly with a precise cross from Luke Shaw, sending a strong header past Jordan Pickford in the 88th minute to put United ahead. Despite the relief of scoring, Sesko expressed disappointment about the result. In an interview with MUTV, he said:

"We’re very disappointed, of course, because we were so close yet so far. To concede a goal like that in the last minute is painful for everyone. Everyone was giving their all to try and win. When a final shot decides the game, it stings."

Sesko emphasized the importance of staying positive despite the setback. He stated that scoring brings him joy, especially when it benefits a club like Manchester United. He added that being back on the pitch and feeling part of the team again motivates him:

"It’s the best feeling when I’m scoring. Providing goals and points for the team is my job. Of course, I wish we had won today, but we can’t change what happened. It’s important to take positives from the game and focus on improving for the next match."

Having made appearances off the bench in recent matches against Hull City, Ipswich Town, and Everton, Sesko is pushing for a starting role as his fitness improves. Michael Carrick’s squad must move past the disappointment quickly to prepare for their upcoming Champions League fixture.
