Coco Gauff Calls Novak Djokovic 'An Alien' After China Open Semifinal Win Over Daniil Medvedev
Novak Djokovic has once again stunned fans with a remarkable win at the China Open, securing his spot in the ATP 500 tournament final in Beijing. The 39-year-old veteran defeated Daniil Medvedev in a match that ended abruptly when Medvedev was disqualified after hitting a spectator with a ball. At the time of the incident, Djokovic was leading 7-5, 5-3.
Djokovic’s next opponent in the final will be Alex de Minaur, setting the stage for what could be another memorable showdown.
Coco Gauff Labels Djokovic ‘An Alien’ After Watching His Performance
WTA star Coco Gauff, who is also competing in Beijing, expressed admiration for Djokovic after his semifinal victory. Speaking to reporters following her progression to the round of 16, Gauff reflected on Djokovic's incredible 33-0 record at the China Open.
I mean, it’s an alien honestly. I was watching the match. Even from Daniil, there were no unforced errors to win these points. It was the same level, two hours and whatever, 30 minutes for two sets, which is insane. It was an unfortunate ending, but I’m glad it got finished in two sets, otherwise we would be here much later. Novak is an alien. I don’t know how he does it honestly at this age. So good, I don’t know.
Mirra Andreeva Also Praises Djokovic’s Longevity and Drive
Another player competing at the WTA 1000 event, Mirra Andreeva, also shared high praise for Djokovic’s continued success and motivation. After reaching the quarterfinals herself, Andreeva said:
I think what he’s doing is unbelievable. He’s achieved, like, I don’t know, he won everything there is possible to win. He still finds the motivation to play these tournaments, fight and win and beat so many great players. I think, of course, it’s a big inspiration for a lot of different players to see that even with such a legend that won everything, he still likes to play, he still enjoys, he still fights. He’s fighting for I don’t know what is his motivation. Maybe he just likes to play tennis and likes to win. For sure he’s a huge inspiration personally for me.
Djokovic’s Record at the China Open

The Serbian legend is aiming for his seventh China Open title, a feat unmatched by any other player at this tournament. With Gauff facing Elise Mertens and Andreeva set to meet Ekaterina Alexandrova in their upcoming matches, all eyes remain on Djokovic as he pursues more glory in Beijing.
