The Three Lions ousted co-hosts Mexico in a thrilling 3-2 match at the historic Azteca Stadium. Despite a delayed start and facing challenges from Mexico's high altitude advantage, England managed to hold their nerve and secure a spot in the quarter-finals.
The match began with some early threats from Mexico’s Raul Jimenez, but Jordan Pickford was alert and denied him effectively. Mexico had not conceded any goals up to this point in the tournament, but that changed quickly when Jude Bellingham scored twice within just 98 seconds during the first half, giving England a solid lead.

Shortly after, England was awarded a penalty when goalkeeper fouled Anthony Gordon. Harry Kane confidently converted the spot-kick to extend England’s lead. Mexico responded with a penalty of their own, which Jimenez converted past Pickford.
Playing with ten men, England's defense stood firm under pressure, showing resilience and determination to close out the match. This gritty performance earned them a 3-2 victory and a quarter-final showdown against Norway, led by Erling Haaland.
