Gabriel Jesus has wasted no time falling for his new home.

The Brazilian forward, a late-window arrival from Premier League champions Arsenal, says he is already thriving under Hansi Flick’s guidance at Barcelona after making his debut in Sunday’s 5-0 demolition of Valencia.

Barcelona turned to the 29-year-old once their push for first-choice target Julián Álvarez fell short, identifying Jesus as the ideal, more affordable option to lead the line. He spent the week settling into life in Catalunya, then stepped onto the pitch in Blaugrana colours for the first time at the weekend, coming off the bench in a statement win.

The move has clearly lit something inside him.

“We have a very great team full of quality and we play beautiful football. I have to make the most of my chances to play,” Jesus said after the game, already sounding like a man in tune with Barça’s identity.
