Hull City Condemns Racist Abuse of Robinio Vaz

Hull City have condemned what they called “abhorrent racist abuse” aimed at new signing Robinio Vaz after announcing his arrival on social media.

The club confirmed that the post revealing the 19-year-old French striker’s season-long loan move from Roma, published on Tuesday, was taken down after it attracted a wave of discriminatory messages.

In a strongly worded statement, Hull said they are working with Humberside Police and other authorities to track down those responsible for the “disgusting abuse”, and promised full backing for their new forward.

No individual should ever experience discriminatory abuse, and the club will provide Robinio with our full support.

The club stressed its zero-tolerance policy on discrimination, outlining that over the past 24 hours it has been in contact with the Premier League, anti-discrimination organisation Kick It Out and the relevant social media platforms as part of the response.

Hull also urged fans to play their part, calling on supporters to continue reporting any form of discriminatory behaviour they witness online or in the stands.

Vaz, who scored once in Serie A last season, has joined Hull on loan with an option to buy at the end of the campaign — a move the club had hoped would be greeted with excitement, not hatred.
