ITV Secures Broadcast Rights for 2027 Rugby World Cup

ITV will broadcast every game of next year's Rugby World Cup, marking its tenth consecutive tournament coverage. The event takes place in Australia and features 24 teams competing through a full schedule including a last-16 knockout stage.

All 52 matches will be shown live on ITV, ensuring viewers across the UK can watch the entire competition. This deal highlights the broadcaster’s ongoing commitment to rugby union, having held rights to every men's World Cup since 1991.

"This is much more than a new agreement with a trusted partner, it is a statement of intent to ensure that everyone in the UK can experience and be inspired by one of the world’s iconic sporting events, its action, drama and personalities," said World Rugby chief executive Alan Gilpin.

Besides the World Cup, ITV has also secured rights to the 2026 and 2028 Nations Championship editions and shares broadcasting duties for most Six Nations games until the 2029 tournament with BBC Sport.

Matches involving England’s men’s team will be available free-to-air on ITV through summer 2029. Scotland, Wales, and Ireland fixtures will also be accessible without subscription across the UK during this period.

The Rugby World Cup kicks off on October 1, 2027, with hosts Australia facing Hong Kong in the opening match.
