Kylian Mbappé Dominates Again in La Liga Against Elche

Kylian Mbappé needed only one touch to change the mood in Elche – and a few worrying minutes on the turf to jolt Real Madrid’s heart rate.

On Tuesday night, in the sixth round of La Liga, the France captain once again carried Madrid’s cutting edge, striking in the 33rd minute to put Los Blancos two goals clear away to Elche.

The move was as simple as it was ruthless. Yan Diomande split the home defence with a superb pass, threading the ball into space. Mbappé didn’t bother with a second touch. He opened up his body and guided it first time into the net, a finish that looked almost casual but underlined why he is dominating Spain’s scoring charts.

Relief and celebration in the away end quickly gave way to silence. Moments after his goal, Mbappé collided with Elche goalkeeper Matías Dituro and stayed down. He lay on the turf for several minutes as team-mates hovered and Madrid fans stared on, fearing a serious problem for the club’s new spearhead.

Endrick and Carlos Espí were sent to warm up, a clear signal that the bench was preparing for the worst if Mbappé could not continue.

He did.

After treatment on the sidelines, Mbappé returned to the pitch and immediately snapped back into his usual rhythm, driving at defenders and demanding the ball. The scare seemed to sharpen him. A few minutes later he found the net again, only for the assistant’s flag and the referee’s whistle to cut short the celebrations with an offside call.

Even without that second goal, the night still belonged to him. The strike against Elche lifts Mbappé to the top of the La Liga scoring table with seven goals, nudging him one ahead of Barcelona duo Raphinha and Lamine Yamal.

Madrid’s supporters travelled home with two thoughts: their star forward looks unstoppable in front of goal – and, after that brief injury scare, they will be hoping he stays on his feet for the long race ahead.
