Liverpool Boosted in Bradley Barcola Chase as Cody Gakpo Exit Looms
Liverpool have reignited transfer talks with Paris Saint-Germain to secure their prime target, Bradley Barcola. A fresh, improved bid is expected soon as Liverpool look to finalize this high-profile signing.
Transfer Negotiations Restart
The Premier League club has officially resumed discussions with PSG regarding Barcola's transfer, according to ESPN sources. Liverpool aims to complete the deal before the transfer window closes. Earlier this month, an initial offer around £90 million ($122.3m) was rejected by PSG, who now want a hefty £135 million ($184.2m) to let go of their prized winger.
Potential Gakpo Sale Could Fund Barcola Move
The possibility of Cody Gakpo leaving Liverpool might unlock funds for the Barcola deal. The Dutch forward has been linked with moves to Tottenham and Manchester City. His departure would provide Liverpool with the financial strength to meet PSG's demands.
PSG's sporting director Luis Campos confirmed the transfer window remains active, indicating that transfers could still happen before the deadline.
Personal Terms Agreed, But No Pressure from Barcola
Barcola has been Liverpool’s top target all summer, with personal terms already settled. Despite this, Barcola hasn't pushed for a move and remains with PSG, where he has two years left on his contract. He has yet to appear in PSG's opening three matches this season but featured in all eight of France's games at the recent World Cup.
Optimism Builds as Deadline Nears
Though there remains a gap between the clubs’ valuations, confidence is growing that an agreement can be reached before September 1. Liverpool is expected to submit a significantly better offer within the next couple of days, which could be decisive. If successful, Liverpool will land a player turning 24 next week who has been highly sought after.
