Manchester United’s transfer window is drifting into its final days with more questions than answers – and several big calls still on the table.
Raum stays on INEOS radar
United’s search for a left-back has not gone away, and David Raum remains firmly in the conversation.
The RB Leipzig defender, who is into the final year of his contract in Germany, is still being monitored by the INEOS recruitment team, according to TeamTALK. He has long been floated as a possible solution on the left side of defence, and the contractual situation only sharpens the sense that a deal could be there if United decide to move.
No bid yet. No breakthrough. But his name has not gone away.
McCoist pushes Kroupi as “smart” United move
While United weigh up defensive options, Ally McCoist has thrown a different kind of name into the mix.
The former Scotland international believes Bournemouth’s Eli Junior Kroupi is already playing below his ceiling – and has urged United to consider a move, despite the forward currently being sidelined with a pre-season injury.
Speaking to talkSPORT Bet, McCoist said it “sounds crazy” to suggest Kroupi is ready to step up when Bournemouth themselves have been impressive, pointing to wins at Arsenal and Newcastle as proof they can compete.
He framed the next step clearly: a top-four or top-five club and Champions League football.
“In my opinion, he absolutely would not look out of place at a team like Manchester United,” McCoist insisted. “He’d be a smart signing.”
Injury or not, that is a strong public nudge towards Old Trafford.
Feyenoord circle for Chido Obi
At the other end of the squad, one of United’s recent youth arrivals is already attracting attention from abroad.
Chido Obi, signed from Arsenal in 2024, has only managed a handful of first-team appearances and has struggled to carve out a regular role under Michael Carrick. The pathway looks blocked for now, and that has opened the door to interest from the Eredivisie.
Reports in the Netherlands say Feyenoord are keen to take the Danish youngster on loan. For United, it would be a chance to give him senior minutes in a demanding environment. For the player, it could be the move that decides whether he’s a future Old Trafford regular or another talent that slips away.
Zirkzee pushes for exit as deadline looms
If Obi’s future is about development, Joshua Zirkzee’s situation is far more urgent.
The Dutch forward wants to leave Manchester United before Tuesday’s deadline, with The Daily Mail reporting that he expects a move to be completed before the window shuts.
Zirkzee arrived in 2024 with high expectations but has failed to kick on and does not feature in Carrick’s plans. United are now open to an exit, and there is no shortage of interest.
Aston Villa are understood to be leading the chase in England, while Napoli, Juventus and Roma have all been mentioned as possible destinations on the continent.
United’s hierarchy must now decide: cash in quickly, or risk being left with a frustrated striker and no resolution once the window slams shut?
With Raum still on the list, Kroupi being talked up, Obi drawing loan interest and Zirkzee agitating to go, the final days of this window will say plenty about what kind of squad INEOS really wants to build at Old Trafford.
