Player Ratings: Manchester City vs Palace
Dean Henderson – 7
No chance with either of Manchester City’s goals, but this was a reminder of his class. Denied Anderson with a sharp early stop, then stood up well to efforts from Semenyo and Cherki. Without him, the scoreline runs away.
Jaydee Convot – 6
Kept things tidy on his flank and rarely put a foot wrong. The problem? Palace simply had no answer once Cherki found his rhythm and drifted into dangerous areas.
Chris Richards – 6
Relished the physical contest with Haaland and threw himself into it, but there was only going to be one winner over 90 minutes. Should have levelled things up with a free header in the first half.
Takehiro Tomiyasu – 6
Exactly what you expect from him: solid, unfussy, reliable. Slotted into the back line and added calm, experienced defending to a side that needed it.
Anan Khalaili – 6
Endless running, constant pressing, plenty of enthusiasm. The final ball let him down, though, and promising situations fizzled out.
Daichi Kamada – 5
Covered ground and never hid, yet struggled to get a grip on the tempo. City’s midfield smothered him and his influence waned as the game wore on.
Adam Wharton – 7
The standout in Palace colours. Showed real poise on the ball, picking passes with vision and variety. At the heart of almost everything positive, until City’s pressure eventually swallowed up the midfield around him.
Tyrick Mitchell – 6
Aggressive in the tackle and quick across the turf. Pushed on when he could, but a big first-half chance with a header went begging, and that moment lingered.
Eddie Nketiah – 5
Started brightly, stinging Donnarumma’s palms and stretching the defence. After the break he faded badly and squandered a huge opening early in the second half.
Yeremy Pino – 6
Erratic at times but always a threat. Proved it with a wicked free-kick that forced Donnarumma into the error for the own goal. Carried Palace up the pitch when they needed an outlet.
Jorgen Strand Larsen – 5
Worked the channels and put in the miles, yet was second best in the physical duel with Dias. One decent first-half sight of goal came and went. A frustrating afternoon.
