Roberto De Zerbi Sets 10-Goal Target for Savio After Stellar Tottenham Debut

Roberto De Zerbi, Tottenham Hotspur's manager, has urged new signing Savio to boost his goal tally following a remarkable debut. The Brazilian winger scored shortly after coming off the bench in Tottenham's commanding 5-1 victory over Charlton Athletic in the Carabao Cup.

Spurs Dominate Charlton

Before Savio entered the game in the 71st minute, Spurs were already leading comfortably thanks to goals from Mikey Moore, Dominic Solanke, and Kevin Danso. Savio needed just 11 minutes to make an impact, curling a precise low shot into the bottom corner after cutting inside. He nearly doubled his tally, but his second effort was credited as an own goal by Ben Davies.

De Zerbi Sets Clear Expectations

Though pleased with Savio's immediate contribution, De Zerbi is keen on seeing the winger increase his scoring output. The coach said:

"It was a perfect day for him. I think his biggest step and biggest improvement is to increase the number of goals. With his qualities, he is one of the best wingers. But the best wingers score many goals. I spoke with him yesterday, two days ago. We put the goal on 10 to 12 goals because we need those goals from the wingers. Last season, I think we suffered too much. Also, because the number of goals were not enough to compete for nothing more than that position."

Pressure Comes With £85m Price Tag

The hefty fee Tottenham paid Manchester City to secure Savio's transfer earlier this week adds pressure. While at City, he scored seven goals and assisted 13 times in 84 appearances across all competitions. Tottenham’s dominant win also extends their strong home record in the Carabao Cup, with seven wins in their last eight North London ties.
