Sevilla vs Barcelona: High-Scoring Clash Expected
The Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán has rarely scared Barcelona. One defeat in their last 10 La Liga visits tells its own story. On Sunday, the leaders arrive again, and Sevilla are trying to become the first side this season to slow down Hansi Flick’s machine.

Sevilla come into this with something they haven’t had for a while: momentum. Luis García Plaza has them sitting fourth after six games, with four league wins already on the board. That includes a sharp 3-1 victory away at Athletic Bilbao in August and a gritty 1-0 win at ten-man Deportivo on Wednesday night.
This is a very different picture to last season’s muddled 13th-place finish under two different managers. European spots, even this early, feel like a reward for a side that has finally found some structure.
There is, however, a warning sign. Their only defeat in the 2026/27 La Liga campaign was a 3-1 home loss to Atlético Madrid. When the level jumps to the league’s elite, Sevilla still look short. Rubén Vargas and Arouna Sangante are out injured, which strips more depth from a squad that will already be stretched.
Even so, they carry a threat. Sevilla have scored in five of their last six competitive games and put three past Athletic Bilbao away from home. They also hammered Barcelona 4-1 on this ground in October 2025 – a rare but vivid reminder that this stadium can bite.
Flick’s Barcelona in overdrive
Right now, Barcelona are operating on a different plane. Six games, six wins, 28 goals. The numbers are brutal. Flick’s side are not just winning; they’re tearing through teams.
They opened their Champions League league-phase campaign by smashing Feyenoord 5-1. Domestically, their goal returns read like basketball scores: five, two, seven, five, six and nine. Only a 2-0 win over Athletic Club fell short of four goals in total.
All of this without a recognised centre-forward. Flick has ripped up the traditional template and dropped Raphinha into a false nine role. It suits him. The Brazilian has been electric, highlighted by his hat-trick in the 7-2 demolition of Racing Santander. Around him, Lamine Yamal and Gordon stretch defences from the first whistle, with Pedri knitting everything together in midfield.
There are absentees. Frenkie de Jong and Roony Bardghji remain sidelined, yet the system is so fluid and aggressive that Barcelona’s attacking output hasn’t dipped.
Goals almost guaranteed
This fixture has a habit of producing action at both ends. Both teams have scored in each of the last five meetings between Sevilla and Barcelona, and the trends point the same way again.
Sevilla have nine scored and six conceded in their opening six league games. They’ve already let in three at home to Atlético. Barcelona, meanwhile, have conceded in three of their last four outings. Even Levante scored twice against them last weekend. Flick doesn’t lock games down; he keeps the throttle open.
Put that together and the picture is clear: Sevilla are likely to get on the scoresheet, but Barcelona still look overwhelming favourites. A 1-3 away win feels a realistic scoreline, with Stassin tipped to strike for the hosts and Yamal and Raphinha (twice) expected to do the damage for the visitors.
From a betting angle, that underpins several standout plays:

If there’s one defining trait of Flick’s Barcelona, it’s the way they start. On the road, they’ve already cleared the “2+ first-half goals” line in all three league away games: 5-0 at Elche, 5-0 at Valencia, and a 4-2 win at Levante that followed the same pattern of early control.
Raphinha scored inside three minutes against Feyenoord. Lamine Yamal opened the scoring after six minutes at Mestalla. This is a side that doesn’t ease its way into matches; it storms them.
Sevilla will almost certainly be forced deep from the opening whistle. Their task is not just to survive that initial wave, but to land enough counter-punches of their own to turn the night into a contest rather than another exhibition.
Barcelona arrive with perfect form, a ferocious attack, and a stadium they know well. Sevilla bring belief, goals, and a top-four spot to defend. Something has to give.
