Vitor Matos insists Swansea City have already shown they can go toe-to-toe with anyone in the Championship after their latest statement win pushed them back into the automatic promotion places.
Swansea brushed aside struggling Burnley 3-1 on Saturday, a result that lifted them back up to second, level on points with leaders West Ham but behind on goal difference. It was exactly the reaction Matos wanted after their first league defeat of the season at Southampton in midweek.
The response was emphatic.

For Matos, it is less about the table and more about the level his remodelled squad keep hitting.
He even claimed he did not know Swansea’s exact position in the standings after the game, but he had no doubts about what his side have already proved.
"I think we have a team who can compete against every team in the league," the head coach said, underlining the belief that has built quickly under his watch.
"That's what we want. When we can compete against everyone, we know that on that day, at that particular time, we can have a proper performance and beat any opponent.
"If that happens all the time, we don't know, but we will work our socks off for that."
The early table might say this is West Ham’s league to control, at least for now. Swansea’s football, and Matos’ conviction, suggest they plan on arguing that point every single week.
