Tottenham Close in on Omar Marmoush with £50m Agreement

Tottenham are closing in on Omar Marmoush after striking a big-money agreement with Manchester City over a loan move that will become permanent.

The Egyptian forward is due to undergo a medical after Spurs and City agreed a loan with an obligation to buy. The obligation is understood to be an initial £50million, with £5m in guaranteed add-ons and a further £5m in additional performance-related payments.

Marmoush is expected to sign a four-year contract in north London, with an option for a further 12 months, as Spurs continue a lavish summer rebuild under Roberto De Zerbi.

Crucially for Tottenham, the Marmoush deal is separate from the £85m signing of his former City team-mate Savio, who completed his move on Tuesday. Savio is already available to make his debut in the Carabao Cup second-round tie at home to Charlton tonight, underlining the speed with which Spurs are reshaping their attack.

There will be no sell-on fee due to Marmoush’s former club Eintracht Frankfurt, despite earlier suggestions to the contrary.

The 25-year-old endured a frustrating campaign last season. He managed only eight Premier League starts for City, despite finishing with eight goals in 36 appearances across all competitions. After a bright start to life in England following his arrival from Frankfurt in January 2025, he slipped quickly down the pecking order at the Etihad.

He now arrives at Spurs with a point to prove and with no intention of playing a supporting role. Marmoush is understood to be confident he can oust both Richarlison and Dominic Solanke to become De Zerbi’s first-choice centre-forward.

For Tottenham, this is another major outlay in a window that has already smashed through the £300m barrier. Marmoush follows Savio, Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke through the door in a statement of intent that leaves no doubt: De Zerbi is being backed to build a new-look Spurs side in his image.
