Tyrell Malacia Joins FC Cincinnati from Manchester United

FC Cincinnati have moved to add European pedigree to their back line, signing former Manchester United left-back Tyrell Malacia on a free transfer.

The 27-year-old Netherlands international, who left Old Trafford at the end of last season, has agreed a deal that runs until next June. The contract includes an option that could keep him in Cincinnati through the 2027-28 campaign, a clear sign the club see him as more than a short-term fix.

Malacia arrives in MLS after an injury-disrupted spell in Manchester. He joined United from Feyenoord in 2022 and went on to make 50 appearances for the 20-time English champions, showing flashes of the aggressive, front-foot defending that first put him on the radar of Europe’s elite.

"We are excited to add a player of Tyrell's experience," Albright said. "He's played at the highest levels of the game and understands the demands of competing in those environments.

"His quality on the ball, defensive instincts, and team-first mentality is a welcome addition to the group and we're happy to have him in Cincinnati."

For a club intent on staying among the MLS contenders, Malacia’s arrival adds proven international experience to a position that often defines a team’s balance. Now it’s over to the Dutchman to turn that résumé into influence on a new continent.
