Victor Osimhen: The Missing Piece for Arsenal's Title Ambitions

Dwight Yorke believes Victor Osimhen is the missing piece that could turn Arsenal from contenders into outright Premier League favourites – and he’s adamant the Nigerian’s awkward, relentless style is exactly why.

Speaking to Reviant, the former Manchester United striker painted a vivid picture of a forward defenders will hate facing.

“Victor Osimhen to Arsenal would be huge. That would really cement them as favourites,” Yorke said. “I was actually looking at some clips today and he’s all action, isn’t he? All arms and legs, a little bit unorthodox, but he gets the job done.”

Yorke didn’t dress it up. Osimhen, he stressed, is not about elegance or aesthetic touches. He’s about chaos, movement, and punishment for any hesitation at the back.

“He’s not the most elegant player you will ever see, but you will find him very awkward to play against,” Yorke explained. “He’ll be a bit of a nightmare for these defenders because he’s a little bit old-fashioned in that sense.”

That “old-fashioned” line is key. Yorke sees in Osimhen the kind of centre-forward Premier League defenders used to dread: aggressive in his runs, direct in his intent, and utterly unafraid of physical duels.

Standing around six feet tall, rangy and springy, Osimhen brings a profile Yorke feels would instantly change the dynamic of Arsenal’s attack.

“He’s six-foot, he’s lanky, he’s decent in the air, he takes his opportunities, and he works hard,” Yorke said. “As a centre-forward, if you have those attributes, defenders are not going to look forward to playing against him.”

For Yorke, it’s a simple equation. Add that kind of all-action, awkward, goalscoring presence to Mikel Arteta’s slick, technical side and the title race tilts decisively.

“If that were to happen,” he concluded, “then I would say Arsenal would definitely run away with it.”
