Wrexham Target Sheffield United's Callum O’Hare for Deadline-Day Signing

Wrexham are driving hard to pull off a statement deadline-day signing, with Sheffield United midfielder Callum O’Hare closing in on a move to north Wales.

The 26-year-old is set to undergo a medical ahead of a permanent transfer believed to be worth around £6.5m, as the ambitious League One club look to get the deal over the line before the 23:00 BST cut-off.

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder revealed on Monday that Wrexham had come forward for the attacking midfielder, confirming the Welsh club’s interest as the window headed into its frantic final hours.

Phil Parkinson has been hunting extra firepower all summer. The Wrexham boss has explored a number of attacking options, with the club also linked to Millwall’s Femi Azeez, but O’Hare has quickly become the prime target as the clock ticks down.

O’Hare, formerly of Aston Villa, Carlisle United and Coventry City, still had two years left on his contract at Bramall Lane, underlining the scale of Wrexham’s move to tempt a key Championship performer down the pyramid.

He has featured in every Sheffield United game so far this season and found the net in Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Cardiff City, a reminder of the creative punch and goal threat he would bring to the Racecourse Ground.
