Yves Bissouma Set for Ajax Move: A Fresh Start in Amsterdam

Yves Bissouma is closing in on a move to Ajax, with the former Tottenham midfielder set to sign an initial deal running until the end of the season.

The 30-year-old has been without a club since leaving Spurs in June, but is now poised to restart his career in the Netherlands. He is in Amsterdam to finalise the switch to the Eredivisie giants, with the agreement understood to include an option to extend for a further 12 months.

For Ajax, it is a calculated move: experience, bite in midfield and a player who knows the demands of top-level European football. For Bissouma, it is a chance to reset.

The Mali international arrived at Tottenham in 2022 after a standout spell at Brighton, where his aggressive ball-winning and ability to drive play from deep made him one of the most coveted midfielders in the Premier League. He went on to make 111 appearances for the north London club.

His time at Spurs, though, never quite settled into the dominant chapter many expected. In August 2025, then Tottenham manager Thomas Frank left Bissouma out of the squad to face Paris St-Germain in the Uefa Super Cup, citing persistent lateness. It was a public marker of a relationship that had clearly frayed.

Now comes a different stage, a different city, a different rhythm of football. Ajax, rebuilding and reshaping, are betting that Bissouma’s engine and edge can anchor their midfield.
