Yves Bissouma Set for Ajax Move: A Fresh Start in Eredivisie

Yves Bissouma is closing in on a move to Ajax, with the former Tottenham midfielder set to sign an initial deal running until the end of the season.

The 30-year-old has been without a club since leaving Spurs in June, but is now on the brink of a return to top-flight football in the Netherlands. The Mali international is in Amsterdam to finalise the switch to the Eredivisie giants.

Bissouma is understood to have agreed a contract until the end of the current campaign, with an option for Ajax to extend his stay by a further 12 months.

The move offers a fresh start for a player who once arrived at Tottenham amid high expectations. Signed from Brighton in 2022, Bissouma went on to make 111 appearances for the north London club, anchoring their midfield across domestic and European competitions.

His Spurs spell, though, ended on a flat note. In August 2025, then Tottenham manager Thomas Frank omitted Bissouma from his squad to face Paris St-Germain in the Uefa Super Cup, citing persistent lateness as the reason for his exclusion.

Now comes a different stage and a different standard to meet. Ajax are betting that the experienced midfielder who once dominated Premier League midfields can rediscover that level in Amsterdam.
