Zavier Gozo Becomes Latest American Talent to Join Crystal Palace

Zavier Gozo has become the newest American player to join the Premier League, signing a five-year contract with Crystal Palace. The transfer from MLS club Real Salt Lake is reported to be worth over $15 million.

Gozo expressed his excitement about joining the Eagles, calling it the dream of any footballer. He also praised the club’s project and success, which played a key role in his decision.

Rapid Rise for the Utah Native

The 19-year-old winger from West Valley City, Utah, has made impressive strides in his young career. After joining Real Salt Lake's youth academy six years ago, he made his MLS debut at just 16 in 2023. Now, he's set to compete in one of the toughest leagues worldwide.

Earlier this year, Gozo grabbed attention with six goals and five assists in 16 starts during the first half of the MLS season. His strong performances earned him an MLS All-Star selection.

“Life moves so fast. You play well for a couple of games, and you’re an All-Star. It came faster than I thought and faster than a lot of people thought. It’s been a great journey,” Gozo said during the MLS All-Star Game.

Joining Forces With Chris Richards

At Crystal Palace, Gozo will team up with fellow American and USMNT stalwart Chris Richards. Richards was a vital presence for the U.S. at the 2026 World Cup. Seven years older than Gozo, Richards seems eager to welcome the young talent.

An Increasing American Presence in English Football

This season, several other Americans will be competing in the Premier League. Notable names include:

  • Brenden Aaronson with Leeds United
  • Tyler Adams starring for Bournemouth
  • Haji Wright playing for newly-promoted Coventry City

The EFL Championship also features multiple American players like Max Arfsten, Sebastian Berhalter, and Aidan Morris at Middlesbrough. Derby County's Patrick Agyemang is sidelined due to an Achilles injury, expected back this winter.

Crystal Palace opens its 2026–27 campaign against Everton on Saturday, where Gozo might make his debut.
