That total, if structured correctly, is viewed as a likely landing spot between the two clubs’ positions.
For Barcelona, €55m carries a particular significance. It is the exact fee they paid Manchester City when they brought Ferran to the Camp Nou. Matching that would allow the club to recover their initial outlay, while the accounting reality is even more favourable: much of that original cost has already been amortised. Any sale now would not only balance the books on the transfer, but also generate a useful profit on paper.
Financial levers, footballing consequences
