Bayern Munich Considers Keeping Sacha Boey

Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Freund has opened the door for Sacha Boey to stay at the club, despite the full-back being on the market for most of the summer.

The German champions had been prepared to move the 25-year-old on, but no deal was completed before the Bundesliga transfer window shut. With that deadline gone, the tone around Boey’s future has shifted.

“The probability is now greater that he'll stay here,” Freund told reporters on Friday, underlining a clear change of stance from the club hierarchy.

Boey, who has struggled for minutes since arriving in Munich, has at least impressed internally with his attitude.

“He's always behaved in impeccable fashion. The plan was different, but this can happen in football,” Freund said, acknowledging that Bayern had initially mapped out a different path for the Frenchman.

The situation now hinges on whether any late options emerge from leagues whose windows remain open. If they do not, Bayern appear ready to draw a line under the uncertainty.

“When all transfer windows are closed and he's still here, then he'll remain a player in our squad,” Freund concluded.

For Boey, a summer that was supposed to bring a fresh start elsewhere may instead turn into a second chance in Munich.
