Djed Spence Set for Inter Debut After Fitness Plan Completion
Djed Spence is finally closing in on his first minutes in an Inter shirt, with the English defender expected to be available once Serie A returns in October.
The 26-year-old arrived from Tottenham in the summer on a permanent €35m deal, a clear statement from Inter that they see him as a long-term piece of their back line. Yet San Siro is still waiting to see him in competitive action.
Spence has spent his first weeks in Milan working away from the main group, following an individual programme to rebuild his match fitness after a gruelling World Cup campaign with England. The right-back featured heavily during the tournament, and Inter’s staff opted for caution rather than rushing him straight into league duty.
According to Gazzetta, that plan is now entering its final phase. Spence will continue to train separately this week before rejoining full sessions with the squad next week, when Inter’s schedule restarts after the international break.
Cristian Chivu has given his players a full week off, with group training for those not on national team duty set to resume on Monday. That’s when Spence is expected to slot back into the collective work and push for selection.
The target is clear: October 10 at San Siro, when Inter host Parma. Barring setbacks, Spence should finally be at Chivu’s disposal for that first game after the break — and the Nerazzurri faithful may at last get a glimpse of their €35m summer signing in competitive action.
