Juventus to Feature Kolo Muani and David Against Parma
Juventus return to the Allianz Stadium tonight with a new-look attack and a growing injury list, as Randal Kolo Muani and Jonathan David are both expected to start against Parma.
Kick-off is at 20:45 CET (19:45 BST) in Turin.
Injuries force Allegri’s hand
Kenan Yildiz and Weston McKennie are both out injured, stripping Juventus of energy and creativity in the final third. To complicate matters, Khephren Thuram is not fully fit and may not even make the squad, leaving the Bianconeri light in midfield options.
At the back, Lloyd Kelly is currently ahead of new signing Jhon Lucumì in the race for a starting spot in central defence. On the left, Zeki Çelik and Andrea Cambiaso are locked in a straight duel for the full-back role, with no clear favourite emerging on the eve of the match.
Sky Sport and Gazzetta report that Canada international Jonathan David is set to operate as an attacking midfielder, floating in the space behind Kolo Muani in a 4-2-3-1. Kerim Alajbegović is tipped to start wide on the left, adding direct running and width to an attack that will lean heavily on movement and pace.
Parma stick to their principles
On the opposite bench, Carlos Cuesta brings his Parma side to Turin under pressure after a 1-0 home defeat to Cagliari in their opening game. He is not expected to abandon his ideas.
Parma are set to line up in a 4-3-3 again, despite that loss, with academy product Hans Nicolussi Caviglia the only absentee. The rest of the squad is available, giving Cuesta room to rotate but little reason to rip up his plan.
Sascha Britschgi returns from a one-match suspension and is likely to slot straight back in as an attacking winger, while El Bilal Touré should lead the line as the lone striker. Parma will need his hold-up play and sharp finishing if they are to trouble a reshaped Juventus defence.
