Lille's Ayyoub Bouaddi Nears Manchester City Transfer as Ancelotti Confirms Talks

Davide Ancelotti, the manager of Lille, has confirmed that talks are underway for the transfer of promising midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi to Manchester City. The club is moving quickly to complete the deal as part of a midfield revamp led by new manager Enzo Maresca.

Ancelotti Acknowledges Transfer Discussions

Following Lille's last preseason match against Everton, Ancelotti addressed the swirling rumors. He confirmed ongoing negotiations with City and highlighted the strong interest from multiple clubs in the young Moroccan talent. This announcement coincided with City’s 3-0 loss to Arsenal in the Community Shield, a game marking Maresca’s debut as head coach after Pep Guardiola’s departure.

Ancelotti had glowing words for Bouaddi, emphasizing his maturity and skill despite being only 18 years old. He described Bouaddi as having "a huge personality" and an intelligence on and off the pitch that makes him seem much older. Technically proficient and physically strong, Ancelotti believes Bouaddi will be one of Europe’s best midfielders over the next decade.

“He has a huge personality. He is incredibly intelligent on and off the pitch, he is really mature. He is 18 years old but he looks like he is 32 when he is on the pitch. Technically he is really complete. He is also physical, really strong in duels. He’s going to be one of the best midfielders in Europe for the next 10 years.”

Personal Terms Agreed; Fee Negotiations Underway

Lille initially valued Bouaddi at around €100 million, but Manchester City is aiming to finalize a deal closer to €80 million. Reports indicate that Bouaddi and his representatives have already agreed on personal terms with City, preferring a summer move rather than waiting until 2027.

According to Fabrizio Romano on X, the transfer is expected to be completed soon, making Bouaddi a key element in Maresca’s tactical overhaul following Rodri’s likely exit to Barcelona.
