Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona Femeni Honored as Clubs of the Year at Ballon d'Or Ceremony

Paris Saint-Germain earned the Men’s Club of the Year award after a landmark season culminating in their first-ever Champions League title. The French club received the accolade during the Ballon d'Or gala held in Paris, overcoming stiff competition from other top European teams. This victory is a significant achievement for PSG, who have long sought to reach the peak of European football.

Ousmane Dembele, sidelined due to injury and unable to play in PSG’s 2-0 win over Lyon that evening, accepted the award on behalf of the club. He expressed gratitude toward the club's leadership and fans, saying, "On behalf of all the Paris Saint-Germain club, I would like to say thank you to the president and sporting director, all the staff and, of course, our coach, Luis Enrique. Our fans always support us, and always stand behind us. We have created an incredible club, and we always fight together side by side. We played against Bayern in the semi-final, which was incredible and which could have also won the Champions League."

Barcelona Femeni Takes Home Women’s Club of the Year

FC Barcelona Femeni continued their dominance in women's football by securing the Women’s Club of the Year award. The Catalan team’s blend of technical skill and relentless ambition has set a high bar in both Spanish and European competitions. Their near-perfect season earned them widespread recognition at the awards ceremony.

Club president Joan Laporta accepted the trophy and highlighted the team's collective effort. He remarked, "Thank you, France Football, for awarding us this prize for best women’s club of the year. It is a great honor to receive this award. I want to thank everyone who is part of Barça’s history. Everyone has worked very hard to achieve success. I’m thinking of the players and the coach, Pere Romeu. Also, our directors, Xavi Puig and Angel Ruidalbas. Thank you for your extraordinary work. I would like to thank the institutions that organize these competitions in which our players can showcase their talent: UEFA, the RFEF, and La Liga."

Looking Ahead: Ambitions and Future Challenges

The ceremony underscored shifting dynamics in European football, with PSG breaking through as a rare non-Spanish winner in the men's category, while Barcelona Femeni reaffirmed their stronghold in the women’s game. The Blaugrana’s leadership remains determined to add more trophies, combining young prospects with seasoned stars for sustained success.

Joan Laporta addressed the Barcelona supporters, saying, "I want to say a few words to the Barça fans, who are always by our side. This season we want to win La Liga three times in a row, we want to win the Champions League, and this season we will be contenders."
