Rangers now know the path that will define their run-in, with Danny Röhl’s side handed a post-split schedule that starts at Ibrox and finishes on the road in Falkirk – with a potentially season-shaping Old Firm at Parkhead right in the middle.
The first hurdle comes on Sunday, April 26, when Motherwell visit Ibrox for a 3pm kick-off. A home opener, a familiar opponent, and the kind of fixture that simply has to be handled if momentum is to be built at the business end of the campaign.
Then comes a sharp change of scene and tempo. Rangers travel to Tynecastle to face Hearts on Monday, May 4, in a 5:30pm start live on Sky Sports. Tynecastle under the lights is rarely forgiving, and the television cameras only heighten the sense of occasion. If the pressure is already rising, this is where it will be felt.
And then, the one that always looms largest.
On Sunday, May 10, Rangers head across the city for the final Old Firm of the season at Celtic Park, a 12 noon kick-off, also live on Sky Sports. Whatever the table looks like by then, that derby will carry its own weight, its own noise, its own consequences. Bragging rights, momentum, perhaps even the direction of the title race – all wrapped into 90 frantic minutes in the east end of Glasgow.
Just when the adrenaline of that encounter starts to fade, another test arrives back at Ibrox. Hibernian come to Govan on Wednesday, May 13, for an 8pm kick-off. Midweek, under the floodlights, with tired legs but no room for excuses. By that stage, dropped points could be fatal; a statement performance could be priceless.
The curtain then comes down on Saturday, May 16, with an away trip to Falkirk at 12:30pm. Final days often bring drama of their own. Whether it is about silverware, European places, or pride, Falkirk will not roll out a red carpet for anyone.
