Stipe Miocic Shares His Take on Ciryl Gane vs Josh Hokit at UFC 334
The upcoming UFC 334 event will feature a heavyweight title bout between Ciryl Gane and Josh Hokit. Stipe Miocic, a two-time heavyweight champion and holder of the division's record for most title defenses, shared his thoughts exclusively with GIVEMESPORT about who might emerge victorious.
Background on the Fighters
Ciryl Gane recently became the undisputed heavyweight champion after Tom Aspinall had to vacate the belt due to eye injuries. Gane's first defense will be against Josh Hokit, who has made a strong impression since his UFC debut in November 2025. Over the past year, Hokit secured wins over fighters like Denzel Freeman, Curtis Blaydes, and Derrick Lewis.
Gane is favored by bookmakers given his experience and track record near the top of the rankings for several years. Still, many believe Hokit's unpredictable style and wrestling skills could lead to an upset and earn him the undisputed title.
Miocic’s Prediction
“They’re both vulnerable, but I'd have to go with Gane just because of his experience. He's fought some tough guys in the past. However, I think if Hokit keeps his distance and has a good angle on Gane, it will help him.
“I know Hokit’s a wrestler, but wrestling isn't always the best approach. When you're wrestling, you're still getting punched, kicked, and kneed, so you're vulnerable to getting hurt. If Hokit just keeps his distance, he can pick Gane apart. But Hokit hasn't really gone the distance in the past either. Five rounds, that's a big difference. I don't care how great shape you're in, you're definitely going to feel it when you're not used to it. I think that could hurt him too.
“I think Hokit can exploit some of Gane’s weaknesses. I haven’t watched him fight a lot, but from what I’ve seen, he just needs to put pressure on him, close the distance, and work some good angles, and that could be effective.
“If Hokit can get him up against the cage, tire him out and utilise his clinch and body work, I think that could take a toll on Gane.”
About Stipe Miocic
Miocic retired in November 2024 after an unsuccessful attempt to reclaim the title against Jon Jones. Despite that, many regard him as the greatest heavyweight in UFC history.
