Carlos Alcaraz Extends Winning Streak Against Karen Khachanov with Seventh Straight Victory
Carlos Alcaraz made a strong comeback at the Vienna Open, defeating Karen Khachanov once again to continue his flawless record against the Russian. This marks their seventh meeting, and Alcaraz has won every single match.
The match was tough for Alcaraz, as Khachanov came in with solid form and past achievements. Alcaraz had to recover from a break down in both sets, ultimately winning 6-4, 7-6(5). Despite the close scoreline, Khachanov is now the player Alcaraz has defeated more times than any other on the ATP Tour.
Alcaraz’s Most One-Sided Head-to-Head Records
This latest win was the second time Alcaraz faced Khachanov this year, bringing his set record against the three-time Grand Slam semi-finalist to 15 wins out of 17 sets played.
Khachanov isn’t the only opponent Alcaraz dominates. He also holds perfect records against several other players:
- Karen Khachanov: 7-0
- Alex de Minaur: 6-0 (only two sets lost)
- Stefanos Tsitsipas: 6-0
- Arthur Rinderknech: 6-0
- Tallon Griekspoor: 5-0
- Dusan Lajovic: 5-0
Alcaraz has never dropped a match against these players and has only rarely lost sets, notably just twice versus De Minaur, an Australian who has been ranked near the top 10 over the past few years.
Next Challenge Awaits at the Vienna Open
Moving forward in Vienna, Alcaraz is set for his second-round match but does not yet know his opponent. He will face either Nikoloz Basilashvili, the Almaty Open finalist, or Austrian wildcard Jurij Rodionov.
Alcaraz has never played Rodionov before but has beaten Basilashvili twice in previous encounters. The last match against Basilashvili was four years ago during the 2022 Madrid Open. The upcoming match is scheduled for Thursday, October 29.
