Hamburg are staring at a defensive crisis, and the solution on the table is as bold as it gets: David Alaba.
According to Sport BILD, the 34-year-old is being lined up for a sensational return to Germany to reinforce a Hamburg back line that has been torn apart in recent weeks under Merlin Polzin. Alaba is a free agent after ending his five-year stay at Real Madrid and, crucially, could be registered immediately despite the transfer window being shut.
This is emergency football. Hamburg sit bottom, form has collapsed, and the goals against column is already an embarrassment.
