Tottenham's Ambitious Double Swoop for Savinho and Marmoush
Tottenham are deep in talks with Manchester City over an ambitious double move for forwards Savinho and Omar Marmoush, as Roberto De Zerbi accelerates his rebuild of Spurs’ attack.
Negotiations between the clubs are progressing, according to sources, though no agreement has been struck yet. The discussions underline just how aggressively Spurs are moving after last season’s struggles in front of goal.
Savinho ready to move on
Spurs have tracked Brazilian winger Savinho for years. Their interest dates back to 2025, when the then 22-year-old chose to stay at Etihad Stadium instead of forcing a move.
That decision never truly paid off.
Savinho, signed from Troyes in 2024 for £30m, managed only seven Premier League starts last season. For a player of his profile and age, that limited role has become a turning point. He is now minded to leave City in search of regular football, and Tottenham sense an opening.
Marmoush out of favour but still delivering
Alongside Savinho, Spurs are pushing for Omar Marmoush, another forward whose City career has stalled under Pep Guardiola.
Marmoush arrived from Frankfurt in 2025 for £59m, a statement signing at the time. By the 2025-26 campaign, though, he had slipped down the pecking order. Even so, the 27-year-old still produced eight goals in 36 appearances across all competitions – hardly the return of a fringe player going through the motions.
City’s exact valuation for the pair remains unclear, but the club expect to make a significant profit on both, reflecting the fees paid and their age profiles.
De Zerbi’s rebuild shifts to the front line
De Zerbi has already torn into his midfield this summer. Mateus Fernandes arrived from West Ham United and Sandro Tonali from Newcastle, a combined outlay of £185m that has completely changed the core of the side.
The message from the Italian has been consistent: the attack must follow.
Tottenham finished 17th in the Premier League last season and scored just 48 goals in 38 games. Those numbers have framed every decision of this window. Creativity and cutting edge are no longer luxuries; they are non-negotiable.
Savinho would bring directness and one-v-one threat from wide areas. Marmoush offers versatility across the front line and a proven work rate. Together, they would reshape the profile of Spurs’ forward options.
Gakpo interest complicates the equation
Tottenham’s recruitment picture is not limited to Manchester. The club remain keen on Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo, whose ability to play across the front three makes him an attractive target.
The financial reality is harsher.
It is unclear whether Spurs could realistically fund a move for Gakpo on top of deals for both Marmoush and Savinho. Any double agreement with City would force difficult decisions on where to allocate the remaining budget – and which forward De Zerbi views as essential rather than desirable.
City continue to cash in
For City, these talks fit into a broader summer of churn.
The Premier League champions have already moved on several big names, including captain Rodri, midfielder Tijjani Reijnders and second-choice goalkeeper James Trafford. Offloading Savinho and Marmoush would extend that trend, freeing up funds and squad space as Guardiola reshapes his group again.
Tottenham, meanwhile, are trying to turn another club’s reset into their own revival. If they land both Savinho and Marmoush, De Zerbi’s new-look side will carry a very different threat when the season kicks off – the question is whether Spurs are prepared to pay the full price of that transformation.
