Jamal Musiala's Health Concerns During Bayern Munich Friendlies
Jamal Musiala gave Bayern Munich another scare on Tuesday night, cutting short his appearance in the 4-2 friendly win over Heidenheim after feeling unwell for the second time in four days.
The 21-year-old came off the bench on the hour mark, but within four minutes he was down on the turf, clearly in discomfort. Players from both sides immediately closed in, forming a protective circle as medical staff rushed on.
The scene was tense, echoing what Bayern had already witnessed at the weekend.
This time, Musiala was able to get back to his feet and walk off under his own power after receiving treatment. There was no stretcher, no visible panic from the medical team, but the concern was unmistakable. Two similar incidents in two friendlies is not something Bayern can shrug off.
On Saturday against RB Leipzig, the alarm bells had already started ringing. Introduced late in that game, Musiala again sat down on the pitch shortly after coming on and needed assistance from several emergency responders. Team-mate Ismael Saibari was among those visibly worried as staff attended to him.
Eventually, Musiala left the field without help, drawing a huge sigh of relief from everyone around Bayern. Still, the questions began.
Sporting director Max Eberl tried to calm the situation after that Leipzig match, stressing that the immediate danger had passed but stopping short of any deeper explanation.
“He is doing well now. And that is the most important thing. Beyond that, we cannot say too much about it yet,” Eberl told Sport1.
Since then, there has been no public statement from Musiala himself about either episode. No clarification, no detail on what exactly caused him to feel unwell twice in quick succession.
The timing could hardly be more delicate. Bayern face Borussia Dortmund on Saturday in the German Super Cup, a first real marker for the season ahead. Whether their gifted playmaker will be ready – or even risked – now hangs over the buildup.
